First Letter

i love sister allred,she is my bestest friend ever.   So as you can tell sister allred thinks very highly of herself.  Anyway, the MTC is so wonderful and great, their is so much learning to be done but I am so excited and this place is the best, like EFY for missionaries, it feels so similar in so many ways.  My companion is Elder Smith, and he has quickly realized  that I am ridiculous and so reminds me all the time while I am laughing and having a wonderful time.  I feel like elder Talbot is a new person I have never met because I have never been so loud and outgoing in my life.  Elder smith is very humble and a wonderful companion, he got made district leader so i get to be his senior companion for the 2 weeks that we are here.  Our district has 4 elders and 6 sisters, and so we also share the room with elder schliep and elder mcdougal who are awesome elders.  We spend so much time learning and are so busy I am always amazed at how much fun I am having because the schedule seems to indicate that their would not be much time for that.  I still love numbers and reminding my district of fun things like how we will be in the same room for 8 hours or so and like asking elder smith, who is 6"5, how tall he is in centimeters, this place is highly amusing and awesome.  So you have met sister allred, she decided to type the first sentence, she is from sugarland texas and loves to be the tyrannical dictator of the classroom until we got a district leader in the best way possible.  I find it very amusing to watch as she stuggles with only being able to give handshakes to elders. Ican't believe that today is my 4th day here, time is flying by way to fast and I can tell I am going to miss these people so much when we seperate in less than 2 weeks, it is fun to see people I know here, like sister Fieding, right now the MTC is not very full with about 1000 missionaries, but that will soon increase to 3000 over the summer months.  The spirit is so strong and wonderful, Im sorry if I forgot anything important.

No Investigators, But Working Hard

M y misery last week was self inflicted of course, from a bad attitude and not wanting to work as hard as I should.  I read a letter that my companion had that really opened my eyes to parts of missionary work.  It spoke of a missionary who had some amazing experiences through hard work and opposition.  One of the biggest ones was what he learned in a prayer that the Lord knows where his elect are, but he also wants us to grow so that requires some sifting at times.  The Lord loves us, watches over us and knows what I am going through.  We had a wonderful specialized training from our leaders about exercising more faith as our mission is baptizing very few at the moment.  We don't have any serious investigators at the moment at the moment, but that will just give us more time to work hard to find prepared people.  We have been working harder to pray and search for families that will strengthen the ward because they could really use all the extra suppor...

Brook Rodriguez' Baptism

This week was so amazing as Brooke Rodriguez loves the gospel so much and made another step back to our Heavenly home by being baptized.  Everyone needs the gospel and the Lord has entrusted us with his message so that all of his children may learn how to find peace in this crazy world.  General Conference is coming up soon and so we have been listening to old talks in our apartment and o ne that  I greatly enjoyed was Pray in Faith by Elder Bednar.  It really got me thinking about the things that I am praying for and about and how I can better plan to act on things instead of asking.  In his talk he mentions that we do a great job praying for missionaries to find people to teach,  " But ultimately it is my responsibility and your responsibility to find people for the missionaries to teach. Missionaries are full-time teachers; you and I are full-time finders." I reflected upon his statement it reminded me that we have so much to learn here on earth and that...

Forced to Order Seconds

Sorry no pictures this week, the computer did not like the usb stick.  This has been such a wonderful week, I cannot believe that I have been in this ward for over a month now, it feels like I got here only a few days ago, I love the people hear so much, even when they don't feel like coming to church.  Tuesday we were in Fresno and set up like 4 appointments most fell through so we were only able to finally figure that a less active who called us, Jen, is not married legally to her nonmember husband, they did some sort of Elvis wedding, so she is technically under our jurisdiction but her husband does not appear to be too interested at the moment be we are going to see what we can do about that.  Wednesday was fun as we were able to go out to the vineyard again to help with clearing up weeds and pruning.  Some of the members have decided that I need lessons on job interview skills, so those are so much fun.  Thursday was New Years, so we had to be back by 8 and...
