Covering Madera, Fresno, and Coursegold/Oakhearst

I am sorry, but I forgot to take pictures of the cookies we made to drop off to all the amazing people in our ward, so I will have to make more cookies and then take pictures.  It is weird trying to cover Madera, Fresno, and Coursegold/Oakhearst, you should look them up on google maps.  The previous missionaries did an amazing job of note taking and maps of Madera so we are able to keep trying to visit those that are in need or struggle to make it to church or activities or whatever it may be.  The hard part was with mile cuts, we do not know much about Fresno yet, so we just keep trying all the members in the directory, former investigators, and our current investigators who are not responding at the moment.  We had another great lesson with Morgan and Daniell in which we read 3rd Nephi 27 and they said they will keep reading the Book of Mormon daily so we will be following them up on that and we feel that we should move on too faith and then the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that will be most beneficial to them.  Their are some days I really enjoy personal study, it is so wonderful to just forget about things and dive into the scriptures, their is so much learning to be done and so much to be done with that knowledge

No Investigators, But Working Hard

M y misery last week was self inflicted of course, from a bad attitude and not wanting to work as hard as I should.  I read a letter that my companion had that really opened my eyes to parts of missionary work.  It spoke of a missionary who had some amazing experiences through hard work and opposition.  One of the biggest ones was what he learned in a prayer that the Lord knows where his elect are, but he also wants us to grow so that requires some sifting at times.  The Lord loves us, watches over us and knows what I am going through.  We had a wonderful specialized training from our leaders about exercising more faith as our mission is baptizing very few at the moment.  We don't have any serious investigators at the moment at the moment, but that will just give us more time to work hard to find prepared people.  We have been working harder to pray and search for families that will strengthen the ward because they could really use all the extra suppor...

Brook Rodriguez' Baptism

This week was so amazing as Brooke Rodriguez loves the gospel so much and made another step back to our Heavenly home by being baptized.  Everyone needs the gospel and the Lord has entrusted us with his message so that all of his children may learn how to find peace in this crazy world.  General Conference is coming up soon and so we have been listening to old talks in our apartment and o ne that  I greatly enjoyed was Pray in Faith by Elder Bednar.  It really got me thinking about the things that I am praying for and about and how I can better plan to act on things instead of asking.  In his talk he mentions that we do a great job praying for missionaries to find people to teach,  " But ultimately it is my responsibility and your responsibility to find people for the missionaries to teach. Missionaries are full-time teachers; you and I are full-time finders." I reflected upon his statement it reminded me that we have so much to learn here on earth and that...

Forced to Order Seconds

Sorry no pictures this week, the computer did not like the usb stick.  This has been such a wonderful week, I cannot believe that I have been in this ward for over a month now, it feels like I got here only a few days ago, I love the people hear so much, even when they don't feel like coming to church.  Tuesday we were in Fresno and set up like 4 appointments most fell through so we were only able to finally figure that a less active who called us, Jen, is not married legally to her nonmember husband, they did some sort of Elvis wedding, so she is technically under our jurisdiction but her husband does not appear to be too interested at the moment be we are going to see what we can do about that.  Wednesday was fun as we were able to go out to the vineyard again to help with clearing up weeds and pruning.  Some of the members have decided that I need lessons on job interview skills, so those are so much fun.  Thursday was New Years, so we had to be back by 8 and...
