The Hakker Family
That sounds like so much fun. This week it has been hard to see our investigators, JR, Katie, and Angela because they have been sick and busy, so we have found other ways to stay busy by just talking with everyone, and going through the ward directory getting to know everyone, mainly the people we don't see at church. Because of that we were able to meet the Hakker family. The father is not a member, but the mom and son are, the son was baptized about a year and half ago so the family was coming to church at sometime. We set up a return appointment so that we can better get to know them, teach to their needs, bring a member to fellowship and invite them to church, see if the father is interested in being taught again, and if they know anyone who is going through a hard time or wants to hear our message. It was super awesome because Elder Rust says he has been knocking that door for the past 6 months and not once has it opened, so we never know whats going to happen. We were referred to Germa and Pedro, an older couple whose children are grown up now. The Sister missionaries set up a hand off lesson since they were in our area and it went very well, they have a desire to learn more and had a great time at church on Sunday. We are so excited to find a time to go back and continue teaching them and helping them build their faith as the read from the Book of Mormon. Last night when we were out looking for people to talk to, we ran into Robert, a former investigator who had moved and we were not sure where he had went. He is going through some trials in his life and so he has been prepared to turn his life around and to rely on Christ for his strength to keep moving on and change the person that he is. While we were teaching him the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his friend Jorge walked in and wanted to know as well, so I taught Robert while Elder Rust taught Jorge in Spanish. It was wonderful to feel the Spirit lead and guide us as we taught them simple gospel truths. We have a return appointment tonight at 6:30 so that will be great. Jorge mainly speaks Spanish so we are going to contact the Spanish Elders so that they can teach him and he can end up in a Spanish speaking ward. Our zone leaders have asked us to text them whenever we find new people to teach and they text the story to the rest of the zone so I have loved this week as we have found over 60 investigators this week! Its is so wonderful to hear their stories and to be reminded that no matter where you are or what you are doing, someone is waiting to hear the gospel.
