Air Force Base
Wow that is so much fun, thank you for keeping me updated. First off with planking, I can do 2 minutes when I want to, it is mainly a mental thing that gets easier as it becomes a habit. At the moment my exercising is off and on, it is so strange that having my companion up reminds me to do things, but when he is not it just doesn't feel as important for me and I get distracted much easier. One of our recent converts hear, Kayla Mccartney does our laundry every Monday. We check our emails on the 3 computers for clerks at the church. The terrain seems similar familiar with stuff in town and then people out in bigger houses and more spread out. The strength is that the ward is small and wants to grow, the weakness is that they don't know most of the people on the ward directory and the ward counsel makes up a lot of the ward and its a big load for them. I am slowly getting to know the members better but they do a good job of keeping it reverent for church which makes it a lot harder to get to know everyone then. This week was fun, we biked out to the air force base and did some service of cleaning some things and throwing others away and took a little tour of all the cool planes they had. The biggest one was a B52-D superthing, I don't remember anymore but the big ones could carry over 1/2 a million pounds. They also had a 42000 pound thermonuclear bomb that has about 15-20 megatons of power. On Monday we were able to go and visit one of the less active families the Avillas, they are crazy about racing and drifting but as we moved into a more gospel centered discussion we found that there son, Rubio Jr., has been praying more and helped him recognize the huge impact it is making. He has a few obstacles before he will be back at church, but he was excited to commit to praying everyday. On Wednesday we saw the Scotts, another less active family and they kept the commitment to read Helaman 2, which was so awesome because that means this is important to them, they want to do better, and as they continue to reach out to the Lord, he can bless them. We also had a few lessons with Kayla as we are trying to finish her new member lessons and help her get better connected to the ward. On Friday, we had dinner with a less active family the Kennedy's, and they invited some of their friends over who has some questions so we discussed the Restoration of the gospel and answered their questions, I wish we could have gone into more detail on some things but they all committed to reading and pondering over the Book of Mormon and praying to know if these things are true. They seem sincere in there desire to learn more so we are excited to see all 3 of them again this Friday and see what the have learned and felt. On Saturday we were finally able to sit down with one of our investigators Linda Moore to answer some of her questions and discuss some of her concerns. We advised her to think some of her questions out in her mind, and then to pray and ask God if it be right, and she said she felt a twinge in her heart when she heard that. She committed to read over the Restoration pamphlet we left her and I am excited to see her again, answer any more questions, and then focus in on how amazing the Book of Mormon is.
