Staying in Atwater
My companion is Elder Toombs. We got transfer calls and we will be staying together so that is exciting. He is from Utah but actually attended an academy and did summer sales here is the central valley. He likes basketball, teaching people. and eating( we both love eating cookie dough). We had 8 lessons this week. We taught a less active, brother Beatty and his wife who is not a member, we shared a scripture and they seemed friendly. We also met a Lima family, we thought they were less active, but we had a wrong address and they are not actually members, so we will try them again this week. We saw the less active Scotts family and had dinner with them, sadly they did not keep there commitment to read Helaman 3. Brother Scott has forgotten how important daily scripture study is, so we are trying to help with that. We then went over to the Mccartney and had Kayla teach us about the plan of salvation, so we can mark off that her new member lessons are completed. While we were there her mom had some questions and said we could come teach her tomorrow. Wednesday was a wonderful experience as we went over the Restoration, she has truly seen the gospel change her kids life. Her greatest concern was that her family was baptized catholic so she was worried that if she was baptized mormon, she could not be with her family, or she would not get to be with her children. We explained how her family is being taught in the Spirit World and the Spirit was able to comfort her. She believes everything we say and the Spirit is so strong. Her greatest obstacle will probably be to overcome smoking and other addictions so please keep her in your prayers. We taught her 2 more times, once on Faith in Christ and Repentance and another to teach her the stop smoking lesson, but she was not ready to crush the habit. So we are going to help her build positive hairsabits that will give her the strength she needs. After that we just had some lessons with one of our members brother Castillo, about how we can work with him to help his wife keep learning, she was baptized a few years ago. A fun adventure we had this week was my companion flushed our car and house keys down the toilet. Long story short, he got the right equipment and got them out and they were gross, so we cleaned them and to our surprise, the car keys still work. I am so excited to keep working with the Atwater 2nd ward for another 6 weeks. I don't know what it is but is just feels like we are meeting more prepared people who have the desire to let the gospel bless there live. Until next week.
