Trying to Stop Smoking
Thank you so much, that sounds like so much fun things for the week. What makes a good ward mission leader, that is a good question. Going out when he can, but the biggest things are the relationships with the ward, if he knows people who will make great team ups, or good for fellowshipping that person. Another big thing is working with the bishop and other people in ward council to get them excited about missionary work. It needs to be a group effort, not the crazy missionaries and ward mission leader, the circle of people has to get bigger. Kayla's mom is having a hard time, but she says she wants to try and stop this week, she told bishop Beckstead she would so we will talk about it on Thursday. I never could understand how hard it could be until my companion and I decided we wanted to eat healthier and try and lose some weight, so we gave away the cookie dough we had. Then I made more and couldn't stop eating it but for me the thought of throwing away cookie dough is just painful and it has to be harder to through away cigarettes. When she is ready we will share the stop smoking lesson with her that is designed to turn off the longing, that with how she is reading and praying more, she will get there, just keep her, Kathy, in your prayers. Our investigators, Kathy and Linda, are doing great. Both of them came to church on Sunday, they really enjoyed it. With Linda her biggest question is how does Joseph Smith just pop up and become a prophet, so we are going to go over prophets and the Apostasy again with her and invite President Olzack to come teach with us since he used to be Catholic and she was raised Catholic. Kathy is struggling with smoking and other things but she is really opening up to us and her past choices have made life very difficult for her right now, but that is probably why she is ready for the gospel. because she needs all the help she can get. Our next "Zone Conference" will be next transfer but we will have a specialized training on the 23rd and I still have like 18 scriptures I need to memorize for it. They want us to find time to memorize 30 scriptures over a 2 month period, which is a great way to test our planning and see if we can get something else done in a day. The funniest thing we did this week was on our phone you can type messages into the note section of our phone and and it will read it back, so my companion was able to set it up and record it so it seemed like he was talking to the phone and it was responding, and then record it so we had fun showing that to someone especially because they believed us that he was talking to Siri, which our phone does not have, and Siri was responding. Somehow having the phone say things makes them sound so much funnier. Elder Toombs is going to base his training this week off of "talking" to the phone, which is funny because it is entertaining but you still learn from it. I do not know of any traditions, but I did get the garments and package. My only guess is that I have gained a lot of weight and that is why my mesh bottoms keeping tearing.
