Service at Castle Air Force Base

Doing service at Castle, Zone temple trip, and I tore my pants.

What more can you tell me about the super regional's because that sounds awesome?  That band is always doing amazing things.  That sounds like so much fun for Dayton! We called our investigator and he said he will be in Fresno until next week and our potential said to come back next week because they had just had a shooting in there family.  I was so excited to get to meet and teach them but we got transfer calls and I am getting moved to the other corner of the mission, Porterville, crazy times.  I am going to miss all the great people and there love for me and for the missionaries that are lucky enough to serve in the ward.  We spent a lot our week trying former investigators, we have been getting better at seeking the Spirit's guidance but not many people were home and the few that were said the family had moved and they were not interested so we keep looking.  We went over to Gene Sanders and taught him a few times.  He is very old and set on worldly things and its sad that it causes him to worry so much when he doesn't know what he will do with it in a few years.  He always tells us about politics and how much stuff he has, guns, saddles, thousand's of dollars of boots and other fun things while we are trying to teach about things.  We are slowly but surely making progress.  He asks, how can I know pretty often, we have been trying to capitalize and talk about how we learn thing  in the gospel, by the Spirit.  The people we have talked to that are interested have been very open about there trying trials and times and it amazes me, because President Benson said that we need to show people how the Book of Mormon answers some of our greatest questions, and so I started studying more on how I could help people, like why does God allow evil and suffering to occur.  These questions are answered  by the Book of Mormon and these are answers that the world desperately needs.  I love the gospel and I love my Savior, have a great week.
Sorry about the shorter emails, it wasn't anything to do with time, I just wasn't sure what to right about but I will get better at this someday.  I was able to send my ballot off a weeks ago.  Wow that is a lot of soccer games for Devin.  Why does BYU have to make things so painful?  My companion has had 0 bike problems so we have concluded that his tires are studded with diamonds and nothing can scratch them.  I did enjoy that Halloween package, it was so much fun.  I love getting packages and letters but I am terrible at remembering to write back or say anything.  For Halloween, we just had preparation day and then did studies from 6-8.  The stake did its trunk or treat together and we were not able to get and less actives or investigators there so we were not able to make it.  People have been more receptive recently and many of them told us they would be available this week and I wanted to start teaching them, but I am getting transferred to Porterville tomorrow.  I am sad that the Bishop and our ward mission leader are out of town because I wanted to get pictures with them.  We are still only at 1 investigator at the moment, Sandy, and we read 1 Nephi 6 because she did not keep her commitment to read, Brother Avila was different this time and has started to read the scriptures again.  I was able to do service at Castle one last time and it was really fun. We have been working on the interior museum  and it has come a long way and looks pretty cool inside know.

No Investigators, But Working Hard

M y misery last week was self inflicted of course, from a bad attitude and not wanting to work as hard as I should.  I read a letter that my companion had that really opened my eyes to parts of missionary work.  It spoke of a missionary who had some amazing experiences through hard work and opposition.  One of the biggest ones was what he learned in a prayer that the Lord knows where his elect are, but he also wants us to grow so that requires some sifting at times.  The Lord loves us, watches over us and knows what I am going through.  We had a wonderful specialized training from our leaders about exercising more faith as our mission is baptizing very few at the moment.  We don't have any serious investigators at the moment at the moment, but that will just give us more time to work hard to find prepared people.  We have been working harder to pray and search for families that will strengthen the ward because they could really use all the extra suppor...

Brook Rodriguez' Baptism

This week was so amazing as Brooke Rodriguez loves the gospel so much and made another step back to our Heavenly home by being baptized.  Everyone needs the gospel and the Lord has entrusted us with his message so that all of his children may learn how to find peace in this crazy world.  General Conference is coming up soon and so we have been listening to old talks in our apartment and o ne that  I greatly enjoyed was Pray in Faith by Elder Bednar.  It really got me thinking about the things that I am praying for and about and how I can better plan to act on things instead of asking.  In his talk he mentions that we do a great job praying for missionaries to find people to teach,  " But ultimately it is my responsibility and your responsibility to find people for the missionaries to teach. Missionaries are full-time teachers; you and I are full-time finders." I reflected upon his statement it reminded me that we have so much to learn here on earth and that...

Forced to Order Seconds

Sorry no pictures this week, the computer did not like the usb stick.  This has been such a wonderful week, I cannot believe that I have been in this ward for over a month now, it feels like I got here only a few days ago, I love the people hear so much, even when they don't feel like coming to church.  Tuesday we were in Fresno and set up like 4 appointments most fell through so we were only able to finally figure that a less active who called us, Jen, is not married legally to her nonmember husband, they did some sort of Elvis wedding, so she is technically under our jurisdiction but her husband does not appear to be too interested at the moment be we are going to see what we can do about that.  Wednesday was fun as we were able to go out to the vineyard again to help with clearing up weeds and pruning.  Some of the members have decided that I need lessons on job interview skills, so those are so much fun.  Thursday was New Years, so we had to be back by 8 and...
