Mini Missions

Sadly this week Youa had to drop us do to some family complications, it still hasn't hit me that we can't keep teaching her.  I miss her and her family already.  We were not able to find anyone to teach again this week.  We were very busy teaching our recent converts this week as well as less active families.  We were able to meet the Faunes, the Lindseys, and some other families that I don't remember.  The most exciting thing this week was the mini missionaries.  They took youth 16 and older who volunteered and set them apart as missionaries for a few days, Friday through Sunday, so they get to have a taste of missionary work.  It was so much fun.  Our missionary was Elder Aland from the nearby Tulare ward.
I will have someone call or test you as soon as we find out when we can skype.  We have a breakfast at 8 our time, church at 10, a dinner at 3, and the bishops family wants us to come over, but we have not been able to figure out the timing of things yet.  I did get my package.  We cover the Porterville 2nd ward, Elder Davis and his companion from the Philippines cover the other ward.  Our weekly service, which we found on the just serve web site is working at the Porterville Museum, we are currently helping them run their train exhibit until the beginning of January.  We mostly use are car to get around town so we don't bike much but I need to fix one of my tires again.  We did not get any new investigators this week, so we are going to make sure we change things up this week.  We have an appointment on Tuesday with someone who has been coming  to church for weeks but we have not been able to start teaching her until now.  I am excited to be here, I love the ward here and the push so go out more with ward missionaries and members.   The stakes goal is to have going on splits 5 time a week, one missionary goes with a ward missionary to cover the area and the other missionary goes an elder or high priest to home teach his less actives or others, the home teaching has been doing very poorly in this stake.  Our ward is behind the others in meeting the stakes expectations.  That sounds so weird hearing people getting married and stuff, life changes so much so fast.   I have been trying to write in my journal and read from the Book of Mormon before I go to bed and I am always so glad when I do.
