Fresno Temple
Looking back at college, I was like a lot of people I meet out here, who either are struggling and don't ask for help or don't realize that there is a problem. Our baptism is on Thursday so I will make sure to send pictures. I try and play the piano when I see one and remember, but I don't remember much of any songs so I try and play hymns. I should have thought to mesmerize songs to play out here that were not super worldly, like Chirstophoris dream instead of imagine dragons. I am not sure where I have changed the most, maybe in learning about the importance of preparation and accountability. Preparation for things is like growing crops, it takes daily nourishment and care if I want to do a good job at school or as a missionary. At times I have found myself wanting to be complacent, telling myself that my work in the past will be sufficient for the lessons I will be teaching and the other things I will be doing throughout the day. Like President Lee said, a testimony is as fragile as a moonbeam and its amazing at how something that is so important and precious is also so fragile. I have gained a deeper love of learning from the scriptures and trying to avoid the trap of just reading the words and storing information away but to study with real intent. I read about charity, how can I better seek and acquire this gift, I read about commitments, how can I better extend them to bless the lives of others. The Lord wants us all to be converted unto him and he knows that we must lose our life in order to save it. I loved my studies this morning on Moroni 10 3-5. He tells us on how we can come to know the Book of Mormon is true, by asking with a sincere heart, real intent, and faith in Christ. It really struck me at how it is a test in a sense, to see if we will do what is required, the things we were just taught, to come to find out that it is true. I was able to watch a clip from 2012 when President Monson announced the missionary age change and I was amazed at how the Spirit testified to me that he is the prophet of God and he speaks the words of the Lord. We were blessed with the wonderful opportunity this week to go to the temple. I love the feelings of love and peace that I feel whenever I am in that holy building, it is truly a safe-haven from the world we live in. It has been a great week and as our mission president is always teaching us, the Lords prepared children are among the people that members of the church know and we are excited to hopefully have more people to teach this week. This week should be exciting with a missionary broadcast on Wednesday and President Nelson on Saturday. Have a great week.
