Jerry's Baptism
Jerry was baptized this week on Sunday at 4pm. We were getting worried at church because it was 10 minutes into church and he hadn't come yet. He finally did and everything worked out. HIs baptism was amazing. . We had 12 missionaries there, a senior couple, 4 missionaries and their investigators, 2 from Kerman and Madera, us and the sister missionaries. The Spirit there was so wonderful, we had a wonderful turnout and support. Elder Levie performed the baptism, Elder Wilmoth gave a talk, Sister Troseth gave a talk, I was chorister and gave the closing prayer, and Sister Jeffrey sang a song. I did not make treats because I forgot and it was a fast Sunday. We all felt the Savior's love there and knew that this is where he wants Jerry to be. We had another busy week. It takes 3 hours to fill the font and we had to fill Jerry's and fill it again on Saturday. Our mission president has instructed us to do our best to teach in the evening when people were home and to find during the day. We worked hard to do that this week with lots of praying. We were unable to find any new investigators but we did get some potentials so we will see where those go. The Lord blessed us so much this week and we stayed so busy teaching in the evening, we had 29 lessons! I love teaching and serving people, it feels so wonderful. We were also busy because at district meeting we were taught the importance of going about doing good as the Savior did and so we prayed for opportunities to serve and those opportunities came. From helping cook and cleaning dishes to sweeping driveways, the Lord blessed us with opportunities to serve as we sought after them this week. On Monday last I bought pizza for our district as we played games and that was fun. We played a game called Mysterium, it reminds me of that game that we have, I don't remember the name but it was all the weird pictures. Someone is a ghost and they give us hints and clues through crazy pictures and we have to figure out what they are pointing us towards. On Saturday we had Lation/Vietnamese food for dinner at a less active families house. It was really good and I wished I could have eaten more of it, except for the intestines, I just prefer chicken. My pantry consists of cereal, bread and stuff for making sandwiches. We keep getting leftovers from members and we don't want them to go bad so I try and have that for lunch and I usually just have time for cereal in the morning. My advice for my brothers, well learn how to sew. I had to use that this morning when I found out our dryer took off another button from one of my shirts. I would say to pick a goal of what you want to stay under each week, avoid eating out because that is very expensive and to keep things simple or prepare the night before. Lunch is now just 30 minutes long, and you don't have much time for breakfast unless you wake up before 6:30. I would say prepare to be able to cook dinners for yourself because you don't know if your mission will have members feed you a lot. We are blessed with wonderful members who are filling out our April calendar and multiple people who want us to call if anything falls through.
