Day 97

This week has been truly amazing and so much fun.  We had district meeting this week and love learning so I loved it and how some one gave a lesson on becoming master teachers, and that is something I really want to work on is teaching with short powerful statements instead of my long mumble jumble that confuses everyone to death.  The best part of the week though is that we were able to teach our investigator Salvador in the temple waiting room, it was a freakin amazing experience, it was so peaceful their in the temple and he enjoyed and learned a lot.  I am so excited for this upcoming week because he is coming to the missionary farewell and we will be teaching him with the bishop in a few days so we are hoping that as the Spirit continues to touch his spirit that he will be able to bear his testimony to his mom so that he can be baptized.  With another investigator Sonja we went over the baptismal interview questions so now we have much better ideas and plans on what to teach her.  Mormonchannel is the best and I love watching all the new videos that come out.  The recent videos of the 12 step program have been super powerful.  Elder Draney is being transfered to Viclia and so I will be getting a new companion, my 4th so far, so we have been saying goodbye to many members and such like the Troches it was an adventure to see them last night words can't desribe the choas very well, so I will need to get pictures of them.  Fast Sunday was amazing and in the Sierra ward most of it was about how awesome the missionaires are and missionary work and stories and we are hoping that we will be better able to find people to teach people in the area.  Until next week.

No Investigators, But Working Hard

M y misery last week was self inflicted of course, from a bad attitude and not wanting to work as hard as I should.  I read a letter that my companion had that really opened my eyes to parts of missionary work.  It spoke of a missionary who had some amazing experiences through hard work and opposition.  One of the biggest ones was what he learned in a prayer that the Lord knows where his elect are, but he also wants us to grow so that requires some sifting at times.  The Lord loves us, watches over us and knows what I am going through.  We had a wonderful specialized training from our leaders about exercising more faith as our mission is baptizing very few at the moment.  We don't have any serious investigators at the moment at the moment, but that will just give us more time to work hard to find prepared people.  We have been working harder to pray and search for families that will strengthen the ward because they could really use all the extra suppor...

Brook Rodriguez' Baptism

This week was so amazing as Brooke Rodriguez loves the gospel so much and made another step back to our Heavenly home by being baptized.  Everyone needs the gospel and the Lord has entrusted us with his message so that all of his children may learn how to find peace in this crazy world.  General Conference is coming up soon and so we have been listening to old talks in our apartment and o ne that  I greatly enjoyed was Pray in Faith by Elder Bednar.  It really got me thinking about the things that I am praying for and about and how I can better plan to act on things instead of asking.  In his talk he mentions that we do a great job praying for missionaries to find people to teach,  " But ultimately it is my responsibility and your responsibility to find people for the missionaries to teach. Missionaries are full-time teachers; you and I are full-time finders." I reflected upon his statement it reminded me that we have so much to learn here on earth and that...

Forced to Order Seconds

Sorry no pictures this week, the computer did not like the usb stick.  This has been such a wonderful week, I cannot believe that I have been in this ward for over a month now, it feels like I got here only a few days ago, I love the people hear so much, even when they don't feel like coming to church.  Tuesday we were in Fresno and set up like 4 appointments most fell through so we were only able to finally figure that a less active who called us, Jen, is not married legally to her nonmember husband, they did some sort of Elvis wedding, so she is technically under our jurisdiction but her husband does not appear to be too interested at the moment be we are going to see what we can do about that.  Wednesday was fun as we were able to go out to the vineyard again to help with clearing up weeds and pruning.  Some of the members have decided that I need lessons on job interview skills, so those are so much fun.  Thursday was New Years, so we had to be back by 8 and...
