Elder McDaniel

Mission, so when it comes down to it, we spend 2 hours plus studying everyday, which is why seminary is so important because their is so much to learn and seminary is a wonderful way to start learning so much everyday,one of the other big things was my week studying during the weeks, it matter not as much the pages you read, but the time and effort you put in and being able to apply it and to remember the scriptures are for are day so their are always things to be learning from it.  I got a new companion Elder McDaniel, he is so fun and awesome, he is stressed with a car and learing 2 wards, but he has been 14 months out so he has a lot of experiance that I am trying to learn from.  Planning is huge, it means everything on a mission, we only get things done becasue we have it planned out before hand, even though plans never go the way you think they will.  it is also complicated, as we have up to 8 hours a day that we need to have plans we things get done, people found, and others helped, obediance is so importance bevause their are so many things that we may not understand, and so it takes faith to be obedient, and you have to be responsible to you and your companion to get up every day, follow the rules, exercise, study, the rules are complicated and every missionary sees them differently, its hard to explain, but for a while with one companion, our alarms would go off, and I would know that if I didnt help my companion get up them we would end up sleeping in and misusing our time, we have a huge responsibility, like imagine bedtime, we go to bed because our parents tell us so,  but if they are gone for the night, you have to make the conscious decision to go to bed on time, because you know that is what has been asked of you, and so out here you have to be responsible to God to follow his rules so that he can bless you.

 I have not played the piano much, only a bit of playing radioactive, till my trainer said it was too worldly, I wish I could remember the first few notes of Christoforits dream so that I could play part of it on the piano, I miss that song.  Its so much fun to hear about BYU football, lots of things have fallen through this week, but I know our upcoming lessons will be huge for our investigators.
I will remember this week to get pictures of all the goodness, got a new companion who I love, will get a picture with him soon, I am sorry that Devin lost, the best thing to do is redouble his efforts, dayton and drew will help, I will do the same of better contact and plans to that teach and help more people, I need to step up and take lead in heloing

No Investigators, But Working Hard

M y misery last week was self inflicted of course, from a bad attitude and not wanting to work as hard as I should.  I read a letter that my companion had that really opened my eyes to parts of missionary work.  It spoke of a missionary who had some amazing experiences through hard work and opposition.  One of the biggest ones was what he learned in a prayer that the Lord knows where his elect are, but he also wants us to grow so that requires some sifting at times.  The Lord loves us, watches over us and knows what I am going through.  We had a wonderful specialized training from our leaders about exercising more faith as our mission is baptizing very few at the moment.  We don't have any serious investigators at the moment at the moment, but that will just give us more time to work hard to find prepared people.  We have been working harder to pray and search for families that will strengthen the ward because they could really use all the extra suppor...

Brook Rodriguez' Baptism

This week was so amazing as Brooke Rodriguez loves the gospel so much and made another step back to our Heavenly home by being baptized.  Everyone needs the gospel and the Lord has entrusted us with his message so that all of his children may learn how to find peace in this crazy world.  General Conference is coming up soon and so we have been listening to old talks in our apartment and o ne that  I greatly enjoyed was Pray in Faith by Elder Bednar.  It really got me thinking about the things that I am praying for and about and how I can better plan to act on things instead of asking.  In his talk he mentions that we do a great job praying for missionaries to find people to teach,  " But ultimately it is my responsibility and your responsibility to find people for the missionaries to teach. Missionaries are full-time teachers; you and I are full-time finders." I reflected upon his statement it reminded me that we have so much to learn here on earth and that...

Forced to Order Seconds

Sorry no pictures this week, the computer did not like the usb stick.  This has been such a wonderful week, I cannot believe that I have been in this ward for over a month now, it feels like I got here only a few days ago, I love the people hear so much, even when they don't feel like coming to church.  Tuesday we were in Fresno and set up like 4 appointments most fell through so we were only able to finally figure that a less active who called us, Jen, is not married legally to her nonmember husband, they did some sort of Elvis wedding, so she is technically under our jurisdiction but her husband does not appear to be too interested at the moment be we are going to see what we can do about that.  Wednesday was fun as we were able to go out to the vineyard again to help with clearing up weeds and pruning.  Some of the members have decided that I need lessons on job interview skills, so those are so much fun.  Thursday was New Years, so we had to be back by 8 and...
